This section provides a training module for recreational craft dismantling and recycling activities, targeted to people and companies currently carrying out such activities and those who wish to do so in the future. This section also provides an awareness module for end-of-life recreational craft, targeted to boat owners (individual people and public and private organisations who own recreational craft).

Work packages
WP1. Project Management

The main aim of Work Package 1 is to manage and organise the Boat DIGEST Project efficiently. The objective is to ensure that the Project and Work Package deadlines, aims and objectives are met.

WP2. Identification of Needs and User Capabilities

The aim of Work Package 2 is to comprehensively review and collate recreational craft disposal and dismantling practices. The focus will be placed on the specific needs of the main two target groups (craft owners and craft dismantlers). The various gaps in awareness, knowledge and procedures will be identified to be subsequently utilised in the two intended educational modules.

WP3. Review of Innovative Products and VET

Work Package 3 aim to capture and to organize the available innovative products, recycling methods, bio degradable materials (such as natural fibres and resins), tools and trainings created the previous EU funded projects. It will also include any applicable knowledge in partner countries from similar industries within the EU.

WP4.Development and Adaptation of Awareness Module Content for Recreational Craft Owners

Through the identification of the user needs (WP2), the Work Package 4 aims to deliver the awareness module content that will address the identified gaps in craft owners’ understanding and awareness. The identified information from WP3 will be adapted and then developed into training module content that is suitable for the various mediums of delivery identified in WP6.

WP5. Development and Adaptation of Training Module Content for RC Dismantlers VET

This Work Package aims to deliver the training module content that will address the identified gaps in the dismantlers’ knowledge, understanding and awareness identified in WP2 when working with recreational craft. The identified suitable products, tools, VET and other information from WP3 will be adapted and then developed into training module content, which is suitable for the various mediums of delivery identified in WP6.

WP6. Development of Delivery Mediums for VET and Awareness module

The main aim of the Work Package6 is to gather the module content created in WP4 &WP5, identify and create the different mediums of delivery that will be used for Vocational & Educational Training (VET) and awareness modules. An e-learning and e-assessment platform will also be developed within this Work Package, which will allow for the training content to be used via a website or mobile device.

WP7. Piloting, Evaluation and Validation

In this Work Package the main aim is to evaluate and validate the owners’ awareness module and the dismantlers’ VET modules from WP4, WP5 and WP6. It will be achieved by firstly developing a quality assurance and control system and then running a full scale pilot programme throughout Europe.

WP8. Valorisation and Dissemination

The main aim of this Work Package is to outline the plan of disseminating and exploiting the Boat DIGEST project and the awareness module and VET created for craft dismantlers.
